Bridget's career has centered on the development of streamlined and automated methods for electron microscopy (EM) aimed at improving both the quality of EM data and its accessibility to the biological community. In 2022, continuing this theme, she was named a Founding Technical Director of the Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging. The CZ Imaging Institute aims to collaboratively develop breakthrough biological imaging systems centered around grand challenges that push the boundaries of what can be seen and measured. Earlier in her career, Bridget held a variety of positions in industry and academia, and moved her academic lab to the Scripps Research Institute in 2001. In 2007, Bridget co-founded NIS with Clint Potter, with the vision of making cryo-EM and other electron microscopy services accessible to the biopharmaceutical industry. In 2015, they moved their academic lab from The Scripps Research Institute to the New York Structural Biology Center, where they served as Co-Directors of the Simons Electron Microscopy Center until 2023.
