Job Title and Overview:  Lab Operations Group Leader - Woburn

Reports to:  Head of Operations

As Lab Operations Group Leader:

  • Provide team leadership support of daily technical Lab Ops tasks
  • Allocates resources within the Woburn Lab Ops team to ensure that projects are completed within deadlines and to the highest quality
  • Partners with the other Lab Ops locations to ensure technical continuity and best practices are followed across the operations
  • Responsible for Microscope issues: tracking, troubleshooting, planning downtime, and supporting issue resolution efforts with help of the Microscope Lead
  • Maintains and prioritizes project schedules for the microscopes in Woburn and coordinates project handoffs and scheduling with the San Diego Lab Ops team to ensure all project work is executed timely
  • Arranges for and/or conducts the training and onboarding of new team members
  • Give presentations and conduct meetings (i.e. Huddles, team meetings)
  • Optimizes workflow within the Lab Ops team and other groups within the company
  • Provide technical support to the Scientific Service Groups
  • Ensures that the team records and performs data entry of experiments, projects, and other sample related information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Monitors and maintains lab spaces and equipment, including client samples, general lab supplies, and microscopy specific lab supplies
  • Represents the WB Lab Operations team in all other relevant situations
  • Assists with safety audits and documentation of Lab Ops procedures
  • Perform sample prep through imaging for R&D and client SPA & CHR project work
  • Support package intake if needed
  • PhD with 3+ years of experience or BS /MS with 5+ years relevant experience
  • 5 or more years in life science/tech/related field working directly with Thermo Fisher Glacios TEM equipment
  • Experience in managing a scientific lab
  • Strong skills in managing, leading, teaching, organization, and mentoring others
  • Strong skills in troubleshooting, diagnosing instrumentation issues and being able to communicate technical information
  • Be comfortable handling technically advanced and sensitive equipment
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new operating systems and advanced software
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes
  • Be self-motivated and have excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Be able to give and follow verbal and written instructions with careful attention to detail

Salary range: $90-115K
